Summary
Julia, Queen of Semele, has always shared a bed with her husband Endimion. Married young for convenience, they grew up more like siblings than spouses. But when she proposes separate beds, hinting at future concubines, Endimion surprises her. He insists on fathering their heir himself, drawing suddenly near. His closeness unnerves her, his breath sending shivers through her. Overwhelmed, Julia pleads once more for separate beds, unable to endure the new tension between them.
