Summary
A dying antagonist rejects adoption, recalling how she once betrayed him as a child, selling him into slavery to buy medicine for her terminal illness. She later meets a grim fate by his hand.
Before the deal concludes, she intervenes, stopping the traffickers. Though orphans, she cares for the young villain despite his lingering distrust. She secures his promise not to kill her.
When his family reclaims him, he hesitates. “You’re telling me to leave?” She insists, “Go where you belong. Just stay alive.”
After he departs, she coughs blood—her condition worsening. Yet she knows a cure exists. A fresh start awaits, if she can escape.
But something feels wrong. His sharp, watchful gaze still haunts her, leaving her unsettled.
